Global Readers for the month of June

Hi! My name is Jay Ann Berina, N314 student. I am happy to be chosen as the Global Reader for the month of June. I always see to it that I borrow books from the Learning Resource Center because I cannot afford to buy books from the bookstore. I love to read and study all the time. I feel good when I am allowed to borrow books at anytime. I am actually hesitant to ask the Librarians on the books I need because most of the time, they assist me to find the book on the shelf. The LRC Staff are accommodating and approachable. They would always remind me when to return the book. The only thing I would like to suggest is the possibility of providing me a place where I can put my bag. I find the locker fee expensive. I hope they will consider putting a shelf outside the LRC so it will no longer be a problem to anybody.

I believe I deserve to be the Global Reader of the month in GCIC’s Learning Resource Center, because I was able to maximize my time to visit the library every time I have free time with my friends. I read books and reproduced magazines and journals (to fight boredom from academic lessons!) I go to the library to borrow books and take it home. Let’s say for instance, I can’t find my assignment or report given to us, I will go to the library to search for it, instead of buying another book for reference use. Another thing is that, through these learning resources, I am able to explore more information which makes me ready for class discussions. I think, I borrowed more books since some textbooks are not yet available in the bookstore.

Whenever I enter the library, I am somewhat "ashamed" to the librarians because I would always come every now and then. As I can remember, I would come for more than three times a day to borrow and return my books. That is why I feel like; the librarians would get mad at me for frequently using their books. But I know, they will understand me, because all of them are approachable, polite and student-oriented. There was a time that I would be the first one to log in to the Library’s log book, and I will bother the librarian who is still putting back the books on the shelf. (nakakahiya naman yun on my part di ba?) But anyways, early bird catches worms so I will still do my everyday routine so I will not run out of library books. Sometimes my friends would not be able to borrow because all copies are already out. My friends are fond of reading and also "suki ng library". Yeah…

So basically, that’s all. In addition, I like the ambiance. It is well ventilated and so refreshing. I feel comfortable. Every time I come to the Learning Resource Center, I feel that I am always welcome.
